20 TIPS ON HOW TO AVOID GETTING KIDNAPPED

1. Avoid a regular route. Alternate your transiting to and from work/school/outings occasionally.

2. Never use car stickers that says where you work, especially if you have a prestigious job, don't let show off kill you.

3. Avoid hanging or loitering around broken down vehicles.


4. Do you have a car? Avoid offering strange people a lift.


5. It has become increasing dangerous to speak to strangers, even to give them directions. Lost people should meet policemen or traffic warders for directions. Some kidnappers use diabolic means to charm their victims while discussing with them. Don’t fall prey. Just walk away.


6. Don't go jogging while it's dark, you really should be smarter than that. If you can, get someone trusted as company.


7. Avoid isolation. Keep to familiar crowd.

8. It makes the job easier for kidnappers if their victim is drunk. Avoid getting drunk. Stay sober at all times.

9. Take buses and taxis at legitimate parks and avoid taxis with passenger(s) already in the car as this could be a tricky conspiracy. Avoid trips to rural and unfamiliar areas if new to the environment, and if compulsory, don’t go alone and inform trusted friends, relatives, or colleague about your where about and when expected to return.

10. Don't stay late in your office long after closing hours. That deadline work can be done at home.

11. Make good use of your cell phone when in secluded areas. Avoid going about with low battery or phones without call credits.

12. Avoid making your financial status public, don't be the one that jumps to front of the church to make donations or the one pastor raves about.

13. When you attend parties, don't let the band get you so high that you start spraying money like no man's business, use an envelope.

14. Don't be the one that tries to empty the ATM machine by making large withdrawals ...You don't need 50k in your wallet to feel like a man.

15. Always delete your bank transaction notifications, especially SMS...you really can memorize your bank balance....Shred ur POS/ATM receipts.

16. Desist from wearing your I.D in public when not on duty. That could give nefarious people a hint that you are a ‘market’.

17. Don't try to form richest dude in the neighborhood by making large donations in your estate meetings, be modest.

18. Always lock your doors, even if you're only going out to switch off your generator.

19. Don’t go AWOL on your family. Let trusted people/family know your movements just in case…   

20. As much as you can avoid it, don't send kids on errand outside your house, they are soft targets.
