A forceful crusade against road begging by Lagos State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has kept on yielding
more positive result, as the Rescue Operations Team of the State Ministry of
Youth and Social Development, has captured Hadiza Umoru who hails from Niger
State, for begging with twins she borrowed from another woman.
The arrest was made a week ago around Costain area within
the state. She was then taken to the Rehabilitation and Training Center in
Majidun, Ikorodu for further interrogations.
Preliminary findings shows that she was actually not the
biological mother of the twins. The twins belong to her sister whom she called
Aminat. Suffice to say the Aminat has not yielded to invitation by the
authorities.
As indicated by Hadiza, she averagely makes about #600 daily.
The sum peaks at #1,000 when ‘business’ booms. She and the real Twin-mother
shares the spoil at ration 2:3 respectively.
It is hoped that the government will continue to take destitutes
of the streets and give them a better life
