LAGOS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY REPORT THIS WEEK NOV 14th - 17th
MONDAY, NOV. 14, 2016
1. THE PERMANENT SECRETARY AND EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, LANDS BUREAU APPEARED BEFORE THE HOUSE OVER THEIR REFUSAL TO HONOUR PREVIOUS INVITATIONS BY THE COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL DUTIES
- The House accepted pleas by the officers for forgiveness.
- House admonished them to take invitations by the Assembly more seriously.
2. FACT FINDING MISSION ON CONTRACTS EXECUTED BY MESSRS DEUX PROJECT LIMITED AT CARDIAC AND RENAL CENTRE, GBAGADA, BT DIAGNOSTICS MEDICAL SERVICES, LASUTH-IKEJA AND SCHOOL OF NURSING, ALIMOSHO.
- The House requested that the Committee on Health should further review the report and gather necessary documentary facts and information needed for the Honourable House to debate and take decision(s) on the issues raised in the findings of the committee.
TUESDAY, NOV. 15, 2016
1. The House constituted a 5-man adhoc committee led by the Majority Leader, Hon. SOB Agunbiade to investigate the petition by the people of Otodo-Gbame Community (Home of Fishing) alleging incessant killing (murder), police unlawful detention, continued intimidation and sporadic shooting therein by men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force (Jakande Divisioon). Other members of the committee are Hon. Sangodara M. R, Hon. (Mrs) Tejuosho A., Hon. Ogunyemi M. O. And Hon. Braimoh T. A.
2. Consideration and approval of the operating guidelines for Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.
THURSDAY, NOV. 17, 2016
1. Hon. SOB Agunbiade moved the House to discuss the life and death of Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi.
The House observed a minute’s silence and prayed for the repose of his soul; and directed the Clerk to write a Letter of Condolence to the deceased’s family.
2. The house adopted the recommendation of the Committee on Special Duties and Intergovernmental relations as the resolution of the house in respect of report presented by Hon. Shokunle on the petition from Iju Youths Action Committee titled, “MATTER OF URGENCY” to the House.
Parts of the resolutions are:
• The land, subject matter of the petition, is government acquired and meant for public infrastructure to the advantage of the people in the area.
• That the filling station and every other occupant/building on the said parcel of land should be demolished by the Lagos State Building Control Agency so that the purpose of its acquisition can be achieved.
• That since the land has been established as government acquired for public use, the Lands Bureau should take steps to urgently put it to public use as was intended by government.
