Rumors that a worker at a Pepsi or Frooti plant contaminated those beverage products by injecting HIV-infected blood into them have been circulating social platforms. The biggest annoyance here is that people do not bother to verify information before circulating them.

This hoax started making the rounds since over 4 years ago. Please there is a thin line separating information from disinformation. We tend to want to share knowledge to save people but we might inadvertently be doing the very opposite.

I am seriously tired of going from one WhatsApp group to the other to correct this hoax.

IT IS FAKE! A warning about HIV-contaminated Pepsi products began spreading on the Internet and via cell phone text message in July 2011 (with a resurgence in September 2012), and it has also been echoed in recurrent rumors about Mango Frooti, a popular beverage in India

No news accounts, government agencies, or other reliable sources have reported Pepsi or Frooti products being contaminated with HIV-infected blood.

HIV does not survive long outside its host medium of human bodily fluids: blood, semen, vaginal fluid, breast milk, saliva, tears, etc. Infact, the virus is very fragile and cannot survive outside the human body.  You cannot get it from consuming food handled by an HIV-infected person; even if the food contained small amounts of HIV-infected blood or semen, exposure to the air, heat from cooking, and stomach acid would destroy the virus.

Please lets verify all infos before recirculating. Share-share syndrome is very dangerous
