Just like humans, phone batteries do not last forever – they have expiry dates. It has been proven that humans who maintain good habits in all they do have more chances of living long, likewise devices – and your battery phone.
The following are habits you should stop immediately…
You’re charging to 100%
In Nigeria for instance, the minute phone batteries drop below 90% an average user will start having needless faster heartbeat. Maintaining a full charge is not the most efficient way to keep your phone battery strong. In fact, experts suggest letting your phone battery maintain percent range between 30 and 80. That's where it's most comfortable, and will run most efficiently. So stop firing it overnight, and instead go for shorter and more frequent bursts throughout the day if the power companies will let you. However, the usage of power banks should be controlled. Do not turn your phones and power bank to Siamese twins.
You’re letting your phone die
Lithium ion batteries become volatile when they drop down to low power, so you should avoid getting that pesky “low battery” warning too often. Every full discharge wears down your battery ever so slightly. That being said, it is suggested that you
let it fully run out of juice once in two months to “calibrate” the battery
gauge.
You’re leaving your case on while you charge
While we're on the subject, if your phone feels too hot when it's plugged in, it's possible your fancy phone cover / case might be trapping in the heat that's produced while charging. So do your phone a favour and take it off. It is recommended that you remove the phone's protective case while charging. It is natural for the battery to become slightly warm, but the case may act as a barrier and slow down heat dissipation. If possible, flip the phone over and place it on a soft cloth to protect the screen.
You’re using the wrong charger
You’re using the wrong charger
There are a million and one charger types in the market at the moment. Wrong power rating of your charger and cords will adversely affect the batteries of your devices. Always using a fast charger might not be the best thing for your battery's health. This process involves a higher voltage to be sent to the phone's battery, which results in a rapid rise in temperature. Opt for a normal charging cycle, if your smartphone provides this option in its battery settings. Alternatively, switch to an approved matching regular charger.
