As the anti-curruption fight continues, check out the post making the rounds on chat groups:
1) In June 2017, two policemen serving as traffic wardens in Abuja were dismissed for extorting a bribe of N15K from a motorist. They were dismissed after the extorted motorist filed a complaint with the PCRRU.
Musa Muktari (Force Number; 394120 GDI) and Shuaibu Suleman (Force Number 10627 GDII) were both attached to Wuse Police Division, FCT Abuja Command.
2) After a WhatsApp complaint was received on June 12th 2017, 4 police officers serving with the Ogun State Command were dismissed in July 2017. They were found guilty of extorting a bribe of N50K, physically assaulting the complainant and forcing him to write a falsified statement.
The dismissed policemen are Inspector Mufutau Olaosun; Sergent Adebayo Temitope; Corporal Bakare Taiwo; and Corporal Adesoye Ayokunlehin.
3) After a complaint was received via whatsapp on June 21st, three policemen attached to Lagos State Police Command were dismissed in July for extorting residents of the sum of N200K.
The 3 officers are: Inspector Okelue Nkemeonye (Number 136005), Sergent Braimoh Sunday (Number 355897), Sergent Yusuf Olukoga (Number 359928). Their team leader, Assistant Superintendent Bayo Obadia, has been queried, and the query and his response sent to Abuja.
The dismissed officers worked with the Area “N” Command, Ijede-Ikorodu.
After each investigation and dismissal, the Police apologized to the victims and returned their extorted monies.
The Nigerian Police is encouraging members of the public to keep reporting cases of police misconduct and extortion to the PCRRU.
